- Permits. The Oakland Online Portal, the city's Accela site, one address at a time: aca-prod.accela.com/OAKLAND. This is the only public route to an Oakland permit history.
- Open data. data.oaklandca.gov, which is where the police, 311, citation and zoning feeds in this report come from.
- The planning code. The Oakland planning code, which is what a base zone and a combining zone are written against.
- Rent adjustment. The city's Rent Adjustment Program. Oakland has rent control and publishes no register of covered units, so no report can tell you whether a particular unit is covered.

- The assessor. acassessor.org, whose secured rolls and transfer list are the parcel half of this report.
- County open data. data.acgov.org.
