The words
- APN. Assessor's parcel number, the county's key for a parcel — “2-97-42” in print and “002 009704200” when sorted. Everything on the county side of this report is keyed on it.
- Secured roll. The county's list of assessed values for real property, published one fiscal year at a time. “Secured” means the tax is secured by the property itself.
- Base zone. What the city says a parcel is — D-DT-C downtown, RH-4 in the hills. Published as a code with no plain name attached to it.
- Combining zone. An extra rule laid over the base zone, published as its own layer. A parcel can be in none or in several, and knowing only the base zone is knowing half the rule.
- Documentary transfer tax. A tax charged when a deed records, at a fixed rate on the consideration. The value it was computed on is how a price becomes visible in a state that publishes none.
- Situs address. The address of the property itself, as against the mailing address of whoever owns it. This report reads the first and never asks for the second.
