The words
- APN. Assessor's parcel number, the county's key for a parcel. Unusually, San Diego's address register carries it beside the address, so no lookup is needed to cross from one to the other.
- SANDAG. The San Diego Association of Governments, the regional agency that publishes the county's spatial data. The parcel half of this report is theirs.
- Community plan. One of about fifty documents that govern land use in a part of the city. Which one an address falls in decides more about what may be built there than the base zone does.
- Base zone. The zoning designation itself — CCPD-CORE downtown — published with the ordinance that set it and the date it took effect.
- NIBRS. The federal incident-based reporting standard the police department publishes under from 2020. Its categories are not the same vocabulary as the older summary counts.
- Recorded document. What the county writes down when a parcel changes hands. Its date is published; its type is a number with no published key, so this report does not claim which kind it was.
